New Zealand Skills & Education Group’s institutes – TechSchool at NZSE, New Zealand School of Education (NZSE), and Advance Training Centers (ATC Military Prep) teamed up with GameTan at the NZ Careers Expo 2019, held at the Auckland ASB Showgrounds. This event provides young people with a valuable opportunity to make important connections as they plan their pathway for their future careers.
The NZ Careers Expo has been running since 1991, giving the rangatahi of New Zealand the chance to get as much insider info as possible to help decide their future careers. Various employers, industries, tertiary & training providers, and service & support groups come together to present opportunities not easily as accessible outside out the expo.
Course Advisor Tee Roimata (ATC) had the following to say regarding her thoughts on Careers Expo 2019:
“The Expo had an incredible atmosphere and was an amazing experience. There was a lot of interest around ATC, especially from those in the Northern Regions; they wished something ‘as cool as ATC’ was available for them up there; even saying they’d move down just so they could study with us. The visual appeal of ATC drew their attention the most, even though the NZDF was set up in the expo as well. The expos are always busy, and our days are filled answering the queries of students, parents, and career advisors alike. To change things up we introduced a ‘Spin the Wheel’ Challenge which required a bit of physical activity before getting a prize to help engage with the booth visitors.”
This year we partnered with ‘GameTan’ a group of young entrepreneurs whose mission is to help young kiwis incorporate the fun & skill of gaming into future opportunities and career pathways that make use of their passion around gaming and technology.
“There was a bunch of interest for the GameTan/TechSchool at NZSE setup, with the Virtual Reality setup catching everyone’s attention. TechSchool discussed everything behind the scenes when it came to set up VR and gaming along with how the IT programmes can help pathway towards careers that could center around gamming and technology. The interactive VR gaming display had students lining up in packs waiting to play; it’s a positive outlook for TechSchool and our rangatahi. I honestly think this is a real game changer because this generation is all about technology.”
Overall, we had great exposure and generated a lot of interest, we were happy to have been a part of this year’s Careers Expo and thank the professional team organizing this event for the hard work they do behind the scenes. Our sincere thanks to the GameTan team for joining us and most importantly we’d like to thank those who came and visited our booth during the day, we are always happy to answer any questions regarding our courses and how we can help people achieve their goals.
