SCHOOLS

Each year, more than 50 students go through ATC’s STAR and GATEWAY programmes throughout the wider Auckland region.
ATC STAR and Gateway programmes are an opportunity for high school students to see what education is life with a military influence. This can prepare them if they are interested in the New Zealand Armed Forces and other related trades, or if they would like to try an alternative learning approach.
The staff responsible for facilitating this program are ex- military or have served in a similar fields and are able to give students a real perspective on daily life as a member of the Armed Forces, what is expected of a recruit and what a recruit can expect.
Programme Info
Leadership: is an aspect of this course due to the military tradition of promoting leadership within the troops. This course is designed to uncover or discover a student’s aptitude for leading; that is encouraged by appointing students into leadership roles quickly.
- STAR is a 3 day intensive programme brought to local high schools to give students a taster of a Military style education and gain unit standards towards NCEA qualifications.
- Gateway programme is held throughout the school term, where ATC invites students from local high schools to our campuses where they spend one day per week there learning more about the military and gain unit standards towards NCEA qualifications.
